Stop Solving Everyone’s Problems. Start Growing People.

My biggest learning was to stop solving everyone’s problems… and instead give them the toolbox to solve them themselves.

There comes a point in almost every leader’s journey where helping people can quietly become a habit.  Someone walks into your office with a problem.  You already know the answer – so you solve it.  It feels efficient.  It feels supportive.  It even feels like good leadership.  But over time, something unexpected happens.

Your team becomes more dependent on you.  Decisions keep flowing back to your desk. The questions never stop.  And instead of building confident people, you accidentally become the bottleneck.

That was one of the biggest leadership shifts Barbara Brkich experienced after joining our Collective Intelligence Leadership Community.

Barbara has spent years leading people across multiple businesses, industries and leadership roles.  Leadership wasn’t new. Professional development wasn’t new either.  Like many experienced leaders, she’d completed plenty of structured leadership programs before.  But this felt different.

Instead of moving through predetermined content week by week, she found herself sitting alongside other experienced leaders, bringing real workplace challenges into every session.  As Barbara explained,

“I didn’t realise programs like this even existed.”

It wasn’t another course.  It was an opportunity to think differently.  To learn alongside other leaders.  To be challenged.  And to keep growing.

Barbara described herself as a natural problem solver.  When people brought her an issue, her instinct was simple.  Fix it.

“I like to be a problem solver… when someone comes to me with a problem, I just want to solve it.”

But one idea challenged everything.  Rather than solving the problem…  Help people solve it themselves.

“My biggest learning is to not solve everyone’s problems, but to give them the toolbox to solve their own.”

It sounds simple.  But it changes everything.  Instead of creating dependence…  You build confidence.  Instead of becoming the answer…  You develop people who can find their own.  As Kylie shared during their conversation:

“Everyone has a pot of gold. Our job is to help them discover it.”

That’s what great leadership really looks like.

Barbara didn’t leave the learning inside the coaching sessions.  She immediately applied it.

Another leader was struggling with conflict inside a team. Instead of telling them exactly what to do, Barbara coached them through different ways to approach the conversation.  The result surprised everyone:

“My goodness… I never thought about doing it that way.”

The conversation changed. The relationship changed. The team dynamics changed.  It’s a reminder that leadership isn’t measured by the number of answers we have.  It’s measured by the capability we create in others.

Sometimes one conversation is enough to create a ripple effect throughout an entire team.

Towards the end of our conversation, Barbara shared something we hear again and again inside our community:

Leadership can feel lonely.

Many leaders don’t feel comfortable admitting uncertainty inside their own organisation.  But inside the Collective Intelligence Leadership Community, something different happens.

Leaders arrive with real challenges. They hear multiple perspectives.  They leave with practical ideas they can adapt to their own leadership style.  Barbara described it perfectly:

“I came in with one challenge… and walked away with so many different ways to approach it.”

That’s the power of collective intelligence.  Not one expert with one answer.  A room full of experienced leaders helping each other think differently.

If you’ve completed leadership programs before…  If you’re looking for more than another workshop… If you want a place to bring real leadership challenges and leave with practical solutions…

Our Collective Intelligence Leadership Community was built for leaders exactly like you.
