How resilient are you?
I hope you are all healthy, safe, and dealing with this pandemic in the best way you know how.
I am conducting all of my meetings, coaching sessions, and training sessions virtually and working from home full time, with two children doing online schooling (as best we can) and trying to work full time (some days a bit more successfully than others!)
It’s very hectic but not uncommon and I am sure many of you are in the same boat. Although we are all dealing with this pandemic, our own stories are so different, and we must remember to give everyone our kindness and empathy at this time.
My whole focus recently has been coaching leaders and running virtual workshops to help and support leaders right now – when they need it most.
Our workshops have focussed on helping leaders to manage their staff’s emotions, managing productivity in a remote environment in a positive and empowering way, and how to coach remotely because it is different. They have sold out and have been so valuable right now. I am so grateful that I had the privilege to lead amazing leaders through this time.
I also had the honour of being asked to co-author a leadership book that focused on the qualities that every leader needs to know right now. It is the 6th edition of the book, it’s been around for a long time and has so much value in it, that it just keeps growing. My co-authors are amazing leaders and there is a gold nugget in every chapter.
The book, called Fit for Purpose Leadership #6, went to #2 in Australia within 48 hours – I was blown away.
I want to share with you my chapter, because I think it will help you too right now, with everything you are going through.
In the book, I discuss ways leaders can stay resilient right now, and the qualities they need to be using.
I hope you enjoy the chapter, and get some ideas around how you, as a leader, can show up and be resilient right now.
If there is one piece of advice I could share with you all right now, it would be to know that we are all feeling it right now. We are all trying to put on a brave face and make sense of what this new world looks like but, deep down, we are all a little heavy and a little out of sorts.
So give each other a lot of grace, be kind, but be clear and help where each one of your people need as best as you can. Don’t forget to also give some to yourself too, because all of this is new to you too.
As a leader, don’t wait for things to change, lean in now, become the leader you always dreamed of. This is your time to shine, believe in yourself and lead your troops to victory. We will get through this.
Stay safe, be strong, and keep healthy.
